Nobody Joins A Cult
AN EXPANDED SOUNDTRACK CONCEPT
This album started as a way of collecting the years of material I’ve written for Sarah Steel’s award-winning podcast Let’s Talk About Sects. In writing for the LTAS, I’ve made bespoke scores for each episode, combining twists on the podcasts’ main theme with entirely new material. Usually, I’d end up getting carried away, composing a whole piece of music, then paring it back into discrete cues suitable for adding atmosphere for the podcast. Returning to the original sketches, I realised that instead of releasing a collection of no-context sound cues, I could flesh out those original pieces to stand alone. The thread of the main podcast theme is altered to suit each episode, and snakes its way through the resulting album: Nobody Joins A Cult.
